FWD QEII Cup - Post-race jockey quotes

TASTIERA – Damian Lane
“Noriyuki Hori is an amazing conditioner of horses and this horse is just a star.

“A great success for Carrot Farm. It’s just a privilege. It’s what it’s all about. I just feel privileged and lucky to be here on these days, let alone having great chances on these horses. It is what being a jockey is all about, competing on these big international carnivals. It’s very rewarding.”

PROGNOSIS – James McDonald
“Just his barrier manners let him down. He ran well.

CALIF – Adrie de Vries
“Very happy. We were in a nice position. He jumped into the bridle a little bit too soon in the turn and I had to take him back strongly but after he picked up nice and we are more than happy. He finished off the race well, back to his old form.

ENSUED – Brenton Avdulla
“He ran really well. He gave me a lovely ride. He got a little bit crowded before the corner but he ran on strongly and I’m sure a mile and a half (2400m) will be up his alley.”

CAP FERRAT – Craig Williams
“He is a Hong Kong hero winning the Derby and stepping up the international Group 1 and I thought he acquitted himself really well.”

RUBYLOT – Hugh Bowman
“He committed himself really well but just struck a little bit of traffic in the home straight which cost him a little bit of ground and probably running a place.  But really proud of him.”

MOMENTS IN TIME – Joao Moreira
“Obviously he did begin very well. Travelled a little bit strong throughout the race and that probably just look a little bit out of him finishing. But still ran well.”

STRAIGHT ARRON – Matthew Poon
“I think he ran well, but just the pace doesn’t suit him.”

GOLIATH – Christophe Soumillon
“He travelled very easy the whole way. I took him out just before the straight but he never reacted today.”

EL VENCEDOR – Zac Purton
“Just went too hard. Thought he was in a 1000m race. He was off and gone.”
